I am struggling to continue this blog. I am having more success with my Japanese blog, so I am going to focus on it and try to write in two languages if possible. See you there!

Slough

You might think I am trying to paint French countryside like Monet but this scenery is based on the photo of the undevelop part of University Washington campus that I took last summer.

Caves of Torrey Pines

Even though I am not a golfer, it was exciting to see the US Open on Monday, June 16. How can an artist show the excitement of the game? Start playing golf? No, not really.

I happened to visit Torrey Pines in 2007 and I have many photographs from the beach near the golf course. So I decided to paint from one of them. The beach has an interesting structure with bushes and shrubs I do not see here in the Northwest. This location is a little away from the water looking down into the caves.

I happened to find this painting on Etsy and I really like it. This is a copy of his painting and the size is 30" x 23", but he also sells smaller copies and cards of many of his paintings. Please click on the title "Andrew Daniel" to see his shop on Etsy.
